Having Fun At The World Of Wheels Car Show In Abbotsford, BC

By James Martell

Members of my SUPER BootCamp are well aware of my premise that if they build sites in areas they currently have a keen interest they’ll increase their chances of success.

It was for this reason that I wanted to use Arlene’s idea for a site about Autism as a teaching aid as we recorded the 26-week SUPER BootCamp. For her it was a great topic because she had many years of experience on the subject due to Adam's seizures and near miraculous recovery with the Ketogenic diet.

She delayed doing it for two years for all the reasons people procrastinate. But now that site is her pride and joy. And it’s showing all the signs of becoming a trusted authority site for many decades to come.

We want our students to focus on subjects they like if they decide on publishing to the Net. In years past I used to build sites in areas I had little knowledge or interest. I built them just to make money, which is fine.

But there is so much more fun involved when you really like your site.

In my case, I decided to publish a site on the topic of kit cars.

That’s because with the money earned from Affiliate Programs I was fortunate enough in 2004 to be able to have one of these babies custom built for us in Calgary.

For me it had to be a replica Shelby Cobra.

And because I now had my dream car I thought it would be great to build a site for kit car enthusiasts around the world and make some money at the same time.

So if you are like me and enjoy hobbies why not give some thought to doing what I did and start brainstorming on how you could make that a reality.

Imagine spending an afternoon with family and friends pursuing your hobby and getting paid for it. Well that’s what I did a few weeks ago as I made my annual pilgrimage to the Abbotsford area to take in the first car show of the year.

I say I get paid because most of my expenses for the day are legitimate tax deductions and the pictures and story ideas I gathered will add value to KitCarConnection.com.

I’ve been going to the Abbotsford car show for so many years now I can’t remember the first time I went. This year it was called, World of Wheels.

And what a great show it was! However, it was a little under attended due to the well documented sluggish economy.

They held it in the Abbotsford Tradex, which is located at the Abbotsford International Airport, home of the world famous Abbotsford Air Show.

My son Adam joined Arlene and I as well as a fellow Cobra owner, Al Beix founder of www.westerncanadacobras.com.

I got dozens of great pics for the site, notably a 1974 Volkswagen “Thing” and a Baja inspired bug. I am not a big Volkswagen fan usually, but these two stood out.

I got a great story idea when gazing upon the legendary Kremyr Daytona Coupe to the left, which was inspired by the Shelby Daytona Coupe, a hand built car with more detail than most can imagine.

As usual the ride home was filled with chatter and enthusiasm for the summer cruising season which will soon be upon us.

I can hardly wait!

All the best,
